Et Tu, Arlen?

Republican Senator from Pennsylvania Arlen Specter is voting for the Stealulus Plan.

He attempts to explain, "I am supporting the economic stimulus package for one simple reason: The country cannot afford not to take action."

Well, yes it can.

In fact, the country would be better off precisely because the government did nothing.

The economy would recover quicker if the government did absolutely nothing.

In fact, the best thing the government can do is sit and twiddle its thumbs.

In other words, the country can afford to do nothing.

And it should.
