The Old New Deal

Scott Lehigh writing in the Boston Globe, and, quite predictably, defending the New Deal, says, "One might have thought that voters of that day had pretty much settled the question of whether the New Deal worked by enthusiastically reelecting FDR, and not once but three times."

Yeah, one might have.
But one shouldn't have.

Because the American Institute of Public Opinion, in 1939, asked, "Do you think the attitude of the Roosevelt administration toward business is delaying business recovery?"

The people responded Yes 2-1.

The people were right.

Scott Lehigh, and is ilk, are wrong.
